Welcom to Cali Colombia which is the third most impressive and largest city. Founded within 1536 by Sebastian de Belalcazar, it used to be a sleepy little moutain area of local community until the sugar and coffee industries brought prosperity to the region. The Morrones gave up easily to the Spaniards and were divided within encomiendas. the already "mestizo" nature of the Spaniards made the process of mixing with the Amerindians easy. Within fact, Belalcázar himself had Many kids born within the Americas from Indian mothers, as did this man's men.

Cali was essential for Belalcazar because it was beyond the Inca empire. Soon after the capture and execution of the Inca Atahualpa at Cajamarca, Francisco Pizarro had sent Belalcazar to take possession of Guayaquil and Quito on this man's behalf. Cali, being beyond the Quechua empire, was claimed by Belalcazar as this man's own territory. Soon after this man's death, this man's descendants maintained possession of much of the land until the war of independence against Spain.
